When I Grow Up I Want To …
Hello, my friend and future millionaire.
Welcome to this episode of The Money Wheel.
My name is Don Shade.
Let me ask you a little bit of an odd question that you probably haven’t heard since you were a little kid… What do you want to be when you grow up?
You know, all these podcasts that we’ve done and all the different stuff that we’ve shown you, it all talks about building your business and moving your business forward.
What I’d like to do here is share a story with you about where I was when things started, I had spent all kinds of money taking real estate training and listening to audiobooks and different courses, all that kind of stuff today.
I’ve been in business over 15 years and I’ve spent over $300,000 on training and coaching with people helping me to be able to coach you, to get you where you want to be, and to also get my business where we want it to be.
And I’ll be honest with you, I’ve probably listened to around a thousand audiobooks at this point, however, it wasn’t that way in the beginning.
I took training and I understood it and I knew how to do a lot of stuff but the problem was I still worked a regular job.
And so many days at work, I would build my business in my head and I knew exactly what I was going to do.
I mean, I was just going to step out and hand the world a whooping but at the end of the day I was tired and I’d get home and sit out in front of the TV.
Next thing you know, a week, two weeks have gone by and after this happened a while I would get to the end of the week and I’m thinking what happened here.
I wanted to do all this stuff and it just never seemed to get done and I spent the rest of the time beating myself up because I didn’t do what I needed to do.
And it wasn’t like it was hard physical labor.
I guess I couldn’t get my dream big enough to make it happen, where I decided to make a difference and actually do what I set out to do, actually build my million dollar roadmap.
And I know some of you are going through that struggle on a daily basis.
You wake up in the world in the morning and you’re ready to hand the world a weapon.
And then life kicks in, that day happens, you get home and the evening doesn’t go the way you plan so first thing you know, another day has gone.
And then the next day you’re beating yourself up. Why didn’t I do that? All I have to do is refocus my time.
Well, I spent a lot of months doing that very thing and the way I broke myself out of it, I kept looking at the big dream, so to speak.
I was looking at vehicles that I couldn’t afford; I was looking at houses and stuff that I wanted to own, and I knew they were well out of my budget.
I always kept the big dream in front of me.
Now, with all that being said, I made some little changes along the way.
I eliminated TV from my life and got to the point where I was always watching training videos or listening to audiobooks that helped me move forward.
All I did was repurpose some of that time; Instead of me sitting in front of the TV and doing nothing, I was building myself up to be the superhero that I wanted to be in my own mind, because what happened was this.
I was always thinking about what was going to happen when I had a big business, how would I handle a hundred customers?
Or what if I made this kind of money, you know, $10,000 a month, the problem is, I didn’t know how to get one customer.
I didn’t know what to do to handle a group of 10 people soo I had to step back and I had to make little changes in my life that made a big difference.
Now you’re not going to stop watching TV forever or any of that kind of stuff, but you need to realize you’re making changes now for a big difference tomorrow.
And I know some of you, as you hear this podcast, you’re thinking to yourself, you know, that’s exactly what happens to me.
I would set weekends aside, man, I’m going to work this whole weekend on my business and then one of my buddies would call and want to do something else.
And I forgot I was in business and I was off doing whatever we wanted to do, but you know what?
That didn’t get me any closer to being financially free or being what I wanted to be when I grew up.
And some of you smile when you hear that question, but I want it to make you think, what is it that you can do on a daily basis that starts out as one small change to make one big step for where you want to be towards your million dollar roadmap.
That’s everything I have for this episode of The Money Wheel.
We’ll see you next time.
